Transitions at SYRCL Dear Dam Watchdogs, As you may or may not know, I have taken a position with Friends of the River as Resilient Rivers Director. My last day with SYRCL as Policy Manager will be April 30, 2021. My last three years have been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I cannot thank you all enough for the support, passion, and hard work you have contributed to this organization’s efforts to Stop Centennial Dam. Because of your committed engagement, we have been able to:
- Form a strong grassroots coalition of Dam Watchdogs, thousands strong.
- Engage in all local, state, and federal regulatory processes surrounding the Dam, from environmental review comments to examining inflated water demand.
- Ensure Centennial Dam is ineligible for state funding, and reduce yearly District spending on the project from $4,000,000 to less than $200,000.
It was truly a pleasure working with you all, and I know the work is not finished. SYRCL's Executive Director, Melinda Booth, Board Member Peter Burnes, and Foothills Water Network's Coordinator Traci Sheehan are all dedicated to continuing the Stop Centennial Dam campaign. SYRCL will continue to send occasional Dam Watchdog E-News whenever there are major campaign updates. To stay up to date with SYRCL on a more regular basis, please make sure to sign up for SYRCL E-News here. I know this is a really exciting time for NID and the Bear River, and I look forward to continuing to support the Stop Centennial Dam efforts in a different way. This group and the Bear River will always have a special place in my heart. Sincerely, Ashley Overhouse |
