NID Board Meeting: January 22, 2020

When: Wednesday, January 22, 2020 9 a.m.
Where: 1036 West Main Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945

The meeting announcement can be found here. The next regularly scheduled Board meeting will be February 12, 2020. The NID Board normally meets on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m.

Placer County Water Agency's Andy Fecko to present on “Climate Downscaling”

This Wednesday, NID will host Andy Fecko, Placer County Water Agency's new General Manager and previous Director of Strategic Affairs.

Andy will give a special presentation on "Climate Downscaling" to the NID Board, staff and public. Climate Downscaling is a new method of climate change modeling to better estimate local impacts to water resources based on global climate models, also referred to as "localized constructed analogs (LOCA)."

SYRCL applauds NID for inviting Andy to present on such an important issue. NID and our community need to learn more about how climate change will impact the Yuba and Bear River watersheds.

As a reminder, SYRCL as a member of Foothills Water Network, has requested for over a year that the Raw Water Master Plan incorporate climate change into the modeling and throughout the update process. This will help NID better determine local impacts from climate change, as well as determine if the District needs additional surface water storage such as Centennial Dam. Additionally, SYRCL hosted Andy Fecko as one of the expert speakers at "The Future of Hydropower" workshop on October 2, 2019.
